I only attended the cocktail hour before the WHC dinner, but Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame were in attendance, breaking from tradition to enter the public spotlight for the evening. I had the pleasure of meeting Wilson, but refrained from asking him to comment on his prior statement: "I have a request. While I may engage in public discourse, my wife and my family are private people... they do not wish to be under the glare of the cameras."
