In What Sense, Charlie?   [Robert VerBruggen]

Over the weekend, the Fox News All-Star Panel had a detailed discussion about Sarah Palin's interview with Charlie Gibson.

I'm not sure what interview they watched — Juan Williams even praises her media prepping — but she was terrible in the one I saw. Also, Charles Krauthammer may have a point when he says Gibson's definition of the Bush Doctrine isn't the current one, but (A) Gibson isn't the one on trial here and (B) it was pretty clear that, rather than having such a nuanced view of the doctrine that she couldn't answer the question, Palin just plain didn't know what it was.

At this stage of the game, everyone who has a clue has picked his candidate. The campaigns are fighting over still-undecided voters, most of whom probably don't care about the Bush Doctrine — in this sense, the panelists are right that Palin did "fine." But she certainly didn't impress anyone, especially on foreign policy.
