A Heads-Up for NYC Conservatives   [Kevin D. Williamson]

If you're interested in something a little deeper than conventional media coverage of the stem-cell debate, you should know that Socrates in the City, a regular discussion of the Big Ideas, is hosting Stanford neuroscientist William Hurlbut, who will speak about this particular intersection of science and politics. Details and registration here.

If you don't know Socrates in the City and you're in the NYC area, it's worth checking out. The series was founded by Eric Metaxas, the author of Amazing Grace: William Wilberforce and the Heroic Campaign to End Slavery, upon which the highly regarded film was based. Recent speakers have included Robert George, who delivered what I think is the single best defense of traditional marriage that I've heard. (And speaking of George, and of stem cells, check out his WSJ commentary on that subject here.)
