Bankruptcy Protection for Tribune Co? [Guy Benson]
According to the
AP, the
Chicago Tribune's parent company has filed for bankruptcy protection. The recession has hammered Tribune Co., which also owns WGN radio and television, the
Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Cubs, to the tune of $13 billion in debt.
Several sources inside Chicago's downtown headquarters say owner Sam Zell sent out a company-wide email this morning urging a "don't panic, let's keep on chugging" mentality.
